Writing Club 10/23/13

Hey Writing Club,
This week we had free writing time, addressing the prompt: "I have one green eye and one brown eye. The green eye sees truth, but the brown eye sees much, much more."
After sharing some of our work, we discussed the details of our Writing Club Group Story. Chloe started the story with a prologue! Michelle is working on Chapter 1.

Here are some of the details we have decided on in club:
  • Evie Dinges – 16 year old girl
  • Dark brown hair to the middle of her back, high pony tail, green eyes, tall, skinny, gray tank top, skinny jeans, jean jacket
  • Boss personality, sarcasm
  • Genius at a young age, computer hacker, hacked into government files, saw something she shouldn’t have, they killed her family (tried to kill her), but she survived and now is afraid to care for anyone else because they may be taken from her
  • Never had a computer, been on the run her whole life
  • Never loved anybody (no family, friends)
  • Loner
  • Something different about her – knows government secrets
    • Government is bombing their own people and blaming it on other countries to start a war
  • One laptop and portable phone to access government officials

Just so you know, Chloe and I have shared the story to each of you on Google Drive. Michelle is going to write chapter 1. When she is finished, it will be Bhavana. I’ll send out more emails as we progress in the story. I ask that you don’t edit other people’s work. We will have a club meeting day where we will edit together as a group. Until then, don’t worry about the spelling, grammar, etc.
I hope you have a great couple of weeks!
Our next meeting will be November 6th.
See you then!

Writing Club 10/16 part 2

Writing Club!
We briefly had a sign up for Young Authors. Students who are interested in competing in young authors will be able to work together during club time to edit and help each other with their papers. We will also be working on NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writing Month). One way we will be doing this is by having a club circle write that Chloe will be starting for us. Another way is by working on writing in the club to try and create a novel!
We worked on some free write time today, using the prompt: A picture on your mantle unexpectedly falls and crashes to the floor. As you go to pick it up, you notice a note hidden behind the picture. The message is from the future - and written by you. It instructs you to do something important. What does it say?
We also had some more sharing time today for anyone who wanted to participate.

Our next meeting with be OCTOBER 23rd, 2013 from 3 - 4! We will be working on our circle writing as well as having some more free writing and sharing time. If you have any other ideas or suggestions for next club's meeting please feel free to email me at dingesar@unit5.org.

Have a great week!
Keep writing!

Writing Club 10/16

Hey Writing Club Members!
I thought having a website might be a nice place for us to all keep updated and aware. This way, even if you miss a meeting, you will still be able to know what happened at a meeting and what is going on.  We could also use it as a place to publish some of your work if you were interested.
Have a great Wednesday!
~Miss D.
